Help & Support
Straight answers to the questions we actually get asked, plus what to do when a link won't load.
What SaveFetch does
SaveFetch takes a public Snapchat link, reads the media that link points to, and gives you a direct download of that file in the quality Snapchat published it in. There is no account, no app install and nothing to configure.
It works with public Stories, public Spotlight videos and public profile media. Anything private — a snap sent directly to you, a friends-only story, or content behind a login — cannot be read and will not download.
Supported link types
- Public Story links, for example snapchat.com/add/username or a shared story URL.
- Public Spotlight video links, including t.snapchat.com short links.
- Public profile media links copied from the Snapchat app or web.
Common problems and fixes
Most failures come down to the link itself rather than the downloader. Work through these in order before reporting a problem.
- "That link doesn't look right": the field only accepts snapchat.com and t.snapchat.com URLs. Paste the full link, not a username or a screenshot.
- "Nothing found at that link": the content is private, deleted, or has expired. Snapchat Stories disappear after 24 hours and cannot be recovered afterwards.
- The link opens Snapchat instead of copying: use Share → Copy Link in the app rather than opening the link first.
- Paste button does nothing: some browsers block clipboard reads. Long-press the field and paste manually instead.
- Download doesn't start on iPhone: Safari saves large files through the Downloads manager. Check the download icon in the address bar, then Files → Downloads.
- Video plays but has a watermark: Snapchat burns watermarks into the source file at its own servers. There is no unwatermarked original to fetch, and no honest tool can remove it without re-encoding and degrading the video.
Audio downloads
When a video has an audio track you can save it separately. M4A is extracted from the original file with no re-encoding, so it is the highest-quality option. MP3 is converted in your browser for maximum compatibility, which takes a few extra seconds on long clips.
If an audio option is missing, the source video has no usable audio track.
Reporting an issue
If you have worked through the steps above and something still fails, email savefetch.app@gmail.com with the link you tried, the device and browser you used, and what you saw on screen. That is usually enough to reproduce and fix a problem.
